When to Replace your Standard Water Heater
Standard water heaters will give you a few signs that they need to be replaced. Some of the signs that your water heater needs replacing are:
* A puddle under your water heater.
This could be that your tank is leaking or you have a leaky drain valve. If it’s the drain valve leaking you can get this repaired, but if the tank is corroded and leaking it’s time to replace your water heater.
* Not as much hot water as before.
Does your hot water run out quicker than it did in the past. This could be that the water heater is old and not working as efficiently. Now is the time to start doing your research on what type of water heater replacement you should get. It’s best not to wait too long to get this fixed. The last thing you want is a plumbing emergency on your hands!
* Rusty water
If the water coming out of your pipes is rust all the time, your hot water heater is rusting on the inside – it is time to replace it.
* Nasty smells and strange noises
Finally, your water heater may start to smell weird or make noises – plan on replacing it soon.
